Srinagar, Dec 31 (KNO): The Food Safety Department has prohibited the sale, storage and distribution of Raisins packed by Winsome Foods, Rainawari, after tests by the National Food Testing Laboratory, Ghaziabad, found pesticide levels exceeding safety limits.
The retailers and wholesalers have been directed to halt sales immediately and submit stock details within three days.
According to a prohibition order issued by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar, a copy of which is in possession of the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), states whereas, The Food Safety officer, Zone III District Srinagar, lifted same of Raisins under the code no. Do/SGR/25/III/90 from One M/s B.Mart Department Store Zakura under the Brand name of Raisins Packed by Winsome Foods Rainawari Srinagr Registration No. 21018411000588 B.No. WRN10. Date of packing Oct. 2025 Expiry Oct 2026 which has been declared as unsafe by National Food testing Laboratory Ghaziabad vide test report No. JK-691/Dec/25/25/81 dated 15/Dec/2025 due to the presence of Pesticide Sum of Benomyl and Carbendazim (Expressed as Carbendazime) above the prescribed limits.
The order says now, therefore, In Exercise of power conferred under section 36(3)(b) read with section 18(1)(g) of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and in the interest of general public health, District Srinagar, I hereby order that the sale, Storage of and distribution or display of Raisins Packed by Winsome Foods Rainawari Srinagar Registration No.21018411000588B.No. WRN10. Date of packing Oct. 2025 Expiry Oct 2026, is strictly prohibited within the jurisdiction of District Srinagar with immediate effect until further orders
It says, all Food Business Operators, Wholesalers and Retailers shall immediately stop the sale and distribution of the above product (Raisins B.No B.No. WRN10. Date of packing Oct. 2025 Expiry Oct 2026) and furnish the stock position of the affected batch to this office within three days.
The order further says, the it is issued as an abundant retains the statutory right to re-analysis from any FSSAI-Notified laboratory as provide under Food Safety and Standards Act—(KNO)
